Considerations When Choosing a Refurbished Steam Sterilizer/Autoclave

When searching for a refurbished autoclave sterilizer, it’s crucial to ensure that the unit has been thoroughly inspected and major parts and components have either been quality tested or replaced. Future Health Concepts is an FDA registered refurbisher and we do all of our own medical equipment refurbishing in-house. Every piece of refurbished equipment from FHC is backed by a one year parts and labor warranty.

Other Factors When Choosing an Autoclave Sterilizer for your Facility

Some other factors to take into consideration when choosing an autoclave for your facility include:
  • How much bench or counter space is devoted to the equipment?
    • If there isn’t ample space for a standing medical autoclave, we have numerous tabletop autoclave sterilizers to choose from.
  • What load capacity is needed?
    • Measure the length of the longest instrument or surgical package to calculate the volume and length of the chamber required.
  • Is the material porous or nonporous?
    • Nonporous and porous materials have different requirements to ensure proper sterilization. Pre-vacuum autoclaves remove air from the chamber to allow steam to penetrate porous items more proficiently.
The type of instrument to be purified often dictates the equipment needed to clean them.
